Oh, Happy Day! #83

“Some days, 24 hours is too much to stay put in, so I take the day hour by hour, moment by moment. I break the task, the challenge, the fear into small, bite-size pieces. I can handle a piece of fear, depression, anger, pain, sadness, loneliness, illness. I actually put my hands up to my face, one next to each eye, like blinders on a horse.”  ~Regina Brett

The last couple of days I’ve had to take it ‘moment by moment’…illness has got the best of me – but, I’m fighting back with thoughts of happiness:

  • I’m breathing...(could be better, but at least I’ve got my inhaler)
  • Freedom to choose what I’ll do today…(even if I do have some limitations)
  • I can sleep in my own bed…(if I choose to)
  • There are no natural disasters going on outside my door…(WHEW!)
  • I will be choosing what to eat today…(even if I can’t taste, smell, or swallow)
  • Roof over my head…(although won’t be if we don’t fix soon – seriously!)
  • Significant other is alive and breathing…(also has this nasty cold)
  • Have hot water…(shower as long as I want, provided I save some for hubby)
  • Music 24-7…(if I choose)
  • Clear skies as of right now…(been having mixture of snow and rain)
  • I can wear many layers…(but only for so long, given the chills and fever)
  • Technology…(play all day on Wizard of Oz and other fun, and addicting apps)
  • Television…(Cable, Netflix, Amazon, HBO, the list is endless)
  • Cell phone…(if need to hear my grandchildren’s voices <3)
  • Positive emails waiting in my inbox to be read…(always can count on!)
  • FREETIME...(to do as I choose)

“Every day we have plenty of opportunities to get angry, stressed or offended. But what you’re doing when you indulge these negative emotions is giving something outside yourself power over your happiness. You can choose to not let little things upset you.”
 ~
Joel Osteen

“The sun is shining, oh, happy day; No more troubles and no skies are gray; Ever since you said those words to me; Oo-Doo, doo-doo-doo-doo; You said you loved me, I know it’s true; My life’s complete, dear, for now I have you; Oh, happy day, oo-oh lucky me; Oo-Doo, doo-doo-doo-doo.”

(oh, happy day)
Ah, happy day
(oh, happy day)
Oh, happy day
(oh, happy day)
oh, happy day
(oh, happy day)
