CHEERS to NEW BEGINNINGS!

“The most important thing is to enjoy your life—to be happy—it’s all that matters.” ~Audrey Hepburn

3 Important ‘To Do’s’ This Year
Post by Will Aylward

As we start another season and another year, let’s remind one another to focus on the positive and steer clear of the negative~

  1. Focus on what makes you feel good

As Tony Robbins says, “Focus creates feeling.”

It’s your choice whether you focus on the good, the bad, or the ugly – choose good!

Matthieu Ricard, the French writer and Buddhist monk, suggests a great practice: for ten minutes each day, connect with thoughts and memories that make us feel good. When you practice this, you’ll take yourself to your “happy place.”   🙂

      2. Make the relationship I have with myself my most important relationship

The way I see it, putting ourselves first is the least selfish thing we can do.

Why?

“When we take care of our own needs, we’re able to give more to others because we’re in a good mental place.”

“When we honor and look after ourselves, we’re giving others permission to do the same.”

Most of us are great at meeting the needs of others, loving others, and responding with understanding, compassion, and kindness.  We deserve the same needs…love, understanding, compassion, and kindness within ourselves~ ❤

I know in 2018 there are going to be days where happiness eludes us.   We’re going to experience failure, disappointments, loss, stress, anger, and frustration.  However, if we choose to focus on the goodness that’s around us, we can change the direction of our emotions for the better.

I can rely on myself to guide myself through them, as I’m committed to prioritizing the relationship I have with myself.

     3. Find glimpses of happiness even during tough times

When we believe happiness is determined by the external world, we’re at its mercy.

I’m a firm believer that even in life’s darkest moments, there are, “glimpses of happiness” to be found.

There will always be ‘glimpses’ here and there…

Glimpses of peace,

Glimpses of love,

Glimpses of laughter,

Glimpses of happiness,

Finding the good in all our life experiences can be difficult at times, especially our most challenging situations – but if we get in the habit of seeking out the positive lessons through our daily journey, we’ll never be too far away from our “happy place.”
